The damage you saw (along with the 60k mileage) and the fact it is not a certified Lexus CPO car that comes with a 3Yr/100k Lexus Warranty is the reason that car is priced ~$5k lower than you could buy a near mint CPO with 30k fewer miles from a Lexus dealer.

You probably missed or just didn't notice other damage to the exterior or interior, but I suspect the car was not treated well at all. I would say that car is legitimately in 'Rough Condition', with twice the mileage most 2013 models have. I'm guessing the Toyota dealership that has this car will try to sell it for a few weeks or so, and then they'll sell it at auction for whatever they can get for it.

Personally I would steer clear of that car. I would buy a near mint condition CPO car. Hell, even buy a lemon law car that was returned to Lexus, which are usually priced 10%-15% or more lower , and often has really low miles. I saw a 2013 F-Sport with only 16k miles that Lexus took too long to repair a steering complaint problem so the owner claimed it to be a 'lemon' and Lexus had to take it back. In most states the car's title will be a lemon law title, which most people don't want - thus the ~15% reduction in the car's value. That tainted car had all new steering installed at a Lexus dealer under factory warranty and was then sold at auction since it was declared a lemon law car...where a used car dealer bought it to re-sale. The car was mint, but would always have the stigma of being a lemon. I believe it still carried the Lexus original warranty however. I think that car eventually sold for just $30k late last year, which was $10k less than an equivalent car without being a lemon would have sold for at a Lexus dealer.

I don't know if you specifically wanted just a AWD model, but HERE are three 2013 GS 350 that could be bought for low 30s.

Add in AWD and the $6K Lux Pkg and at $35K,the one he's looking at would be a nice deal and he may get more off the asking price. If it checks out right.

He doesn't need CPO as he can buy a discounted Lexus Platinum Extended warranty from..

I bought one from him in Jan.

I prefer AWD, but thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to continue shopping around, I'll eventually find something but the original one is out of the picture at this point unless they come down at least 3K off the asking price which I doubt they'll do.

With all the exterior damage I'd pass on it even if they do come down. You can find one that gas been better taken care of.

Well.... I'm thankful for all of the feedback, opinions and advice. I can now say I'm the proud owner of a 2013 Lexus GS350. I chose not to purchase the original GS I posted about and instead decided to drive a little further, 200 miles to be exact, and pickup a Lexus CPO GS from Bobby Rahal Lexus in Mechanicsburg PA. After some negotiating I got the car for $33,500. The car is AWD, equipped with the luxury package, cold weather package with heated rear seats and a few other "options". 37,000 miles on the clock, black interior and she's painted Deep Sea Mica. I'll post some pics in a new thread and also go through the motions in the introduction thread.

Thanks again everyone for all of the insight!
