How is a GS in stop and go traffic for long periods?

Lexus Test Driver
I'm scratching my head as to why Lexus US doesn't sell the GS300h like in Europe and most of Asia. It has the same hybrid drive train as the ES300h but with a little bit more power. The pricing should be comparable to a 350 and it gets much better gas mileage, close to 40 mpg even in slow traffic.

My commute is 70 miles one way and I just turn on the dynamic cruise and LKA, and then sit back and relax as I listen to my audio books. The dynamic cruise takes care of most slow downs and speed ups. When the traffic is crawling, the idle speed of the GS does a pretty good job of keeping up without needing to employ too much gas. I also use the ECO mode to make the acceleration a little smoother.

It depends what you may be comparing it to..
I used to have back pains from my hour + daily commute, after I got the GS F Sport I was healed in about a week!! Came out of a 4Runner with over 200k miles and a worn driver seat though..
If youre all about comfort you may want to consider test driving the Luxury, but if you like to drive in a spirited manner EVER, then you will never regret the F Sport. The seats are about as comfy as I have ever felt.. and you can tighten up the side bolstering when you wish to get a bit aggressive!
There is also the ventilation from the seats on those hotter days when youre stuck in the car for extended periods.
Oh yeah, I have also owned Jaguars and a Range Rover Supercharged for further comparisons, the GS outshines those as well!

Compared to my E39 540i the GS350 is much better. There is more to do in the car. I can listen to satellite radio, I can look on the map for traffic conditions, I can talk on the phone to somebody, I can review emails, I can check the score of the basketball game......

Depending on how much true stop & go traffic you deal with, you'll get a lot better gas mileage with a hybrid because the engine shuts off completely when you're traveling slow (under 30 mph or so).
That's basically one of the main advantages of owning a hybrid and that's why so many taxi cabs in places like NYC as also hybrids now.
If your commute will have sporadic traffic, it may not be worth it to get a hybrid (for you).. but you know the route best.
All the the best,

Hi friend - you may look into the GS hybrid or another one of the hybrids in Lexus' lineup.

As for comfort I can't wait for the drive home after a hard day's work. The seats and amenities are awesome!!

P.S. - Here is a detailed thread on this "feature" from owners and their respective comments from the TLX forum: http://www.tlxforums.com/forum/engin...op-sh-awd.html
The general sentiment is that this "feature" is a PITA and does not provide real world mpg gains.
