My old cars didn't have this feature and I was fine with it.

If I remember correctly, the Safety Connect alone was $160/year. My insurance gave me a $140/year discount on the policy. The additional $20/year was worth it to me for the remote vehicle tracking and emergency contact in the event of an accident. Obviously the discount will vary with your insurance carrier, but I imagine they will all be pretty close.

The point being that if the accident is severe enough to render you unconscious, the vehicle will call emergency services automatically and give your location.

Download destinations from the app on my iphone or ipad to the car is one reason. I can preload all sorts of stuff before heading out or to save for future reference in the Nav system. I drive in isolated canyons and like the increased chance of my car calling for help if I go over a cliff. Cars regularly do that here in SoCal. Every once in a while, I call the Enform people and they find and download directions to my Nav. Need the nearest Starbucks or want Asian Food while traveling? You could use your Nav if it would let you use it on the move, but it doesn't. You could entertain yourself trying to load a destination with voice command. It's like aerobics. Really get your heart racing with frustration! If you don't need it, don't renew it of course. In five years of Enform, I wouldn't be without it.

I bought Safety Connect only for stolen vehicle location. Ahh, piece of mind.

So, if you don't renew the entire Enform you will loose Enform remote start function?

Unfortunately yes. I hope they eventually make a stand alone option, but they probably won't since it requires the data connection associated with Safety Connect. It's $220 a year after trial.

How is that peace of mind? It makes for a pretty expensive insurance posicy when you already have insurance on the car that covers theft. And frankly, if a car gets stolen there is a good chance you are not going to want the car back. They are seldom in the same condition when they are recovered.

Tried to setup Enform remote on my brand new 2015 F Sport. When trying to add my vehicle, it would not allow me to proceed.

I called the dealer and was told it would need to be added onto the car and require the $85/year fee. I was under the impression that Enform remote was available for all 2015 models and included in the first year trial, correct?

That is correct. Your dealer is either misinform or was just blowing you off. You should have filled out an application form when you bought your car. Depending on how fast your dealer pass that information to Lexus Enform will determine how soon it will be activated. You can call Lexus Enform directly and bypass the dealer, that's what I ended up doing.
