I have AWD because that's all that was available. I would have preferred the RWD but there weren't any on the lots here. I was told Lexus allocates only AWD cars to some regions so the only way to get a RWD car was to have one of the local dealers swap with another dealer (likely in Cali since I'm on the west coast) or special order it from the factory. Either option basically meant I would have little room to negotiate on the deal, so AWD was a better option financially.

A lot people don't realize how many AWD GSs are out there which is probably why we don't get any love from the aftermarket.

If you live in Cali go RWD, unless you make trips to Tahoe or other snowy climates regularly then maybe you'd want AWD.

If the GS had a big V8 or a turbo with loads of low end torque I could see a reason getting AWD, even in Cali, but at roughly 260-270hp to the wheels RWD works pretty well and will make turning traction control off a little more entertaining...

That was exactly my logic for going RWD.

Before long in Calif, we won't need AWD even to go to the Sierras. Snow pack is almost gone!

If I never see another flake of snow again, that would be just fine with me...

Your water is almost gone too! More and more people are moving elsewhere.

I agree. But here, no mountain snow = no water for anything else.

Been in Calif. almost 40 yrs; never seen it this dry.

So let's enjoy those RWD cars and summer tires before we have to evacuate the state!

Heck, in that case, what am I doing with Lexus? I need a 'Vette Z06 !

^^^^ Never seen CA so dry, 3 years ago bought 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT to use for ski trips to Lake Tahoe but only used once in snow. TL up for sale now, replaced with 2014 GS RWD...
