Why MPG so slow on my new car?
Yeah it will improve a little also depends a lot how you drive. I don't have f-Sport but the most I have seen so far on regular GS is 20.1MGP per the car computer.

The vehicle is just over 200 lbs heavier than my 10 year old Acura TL which gets about 35% better gas mileage (combined)! I could drive the highway 730km with my TL, I can't even get 500km with the Lexus (same size tank).
Alas it's a Luxury car so increasing mileage doesn't seem to be on Lexus's radar. But hey we all bought them knowing they aren't the best when it comes to mileage
But I really do wish they would put a bigger tank in !
Interesting. I had a 2004 TL. In virtually identical driving I'm get exactly the same mileage in our GS. I consider that quite good considering the GS is significantly bigger and has 60 more HP. I can only wonder how some of ya'll drive.

Damn. I'm averaging 11.8 mpg. I'd love to get 16-17

I'm sure they could with a smaller engine =) The better comparison would be between the TL and an ES as they're both front wheel drive which will have a measurable impact on fuel economy.

Things the GS has which your TL didn't:

+ .3 liters of displacement
+ 300 lbs
+ 30mm of tire in the rear

and probably the largest killer

The driveshaft and differential to support RWD.

Is that 35%? Probably not... did you gain any weight in 10 years

Off topic. Acura is terrible. Nothing luxurious or sporty about their cars.

The ES and RX have the same 2GR-FE engine and 6 speed transmission as the my old 2011 Camry V6. That car was getting 20s MPG and sometimes in the 30s on the highway. It's a little better than the GS 2GR-FSE engine which has more power and faster pick up from a stop. The GS 8 speed transmission shifts a lot faster too.

I think the GS is geared more towards performance while the ES/RX/Camry are geared towards MPG and comfort. Still can't beat the CT though, 45 MPG no matter how hard u drive it.

Eco mode sucks in the summer. It limits your AC. I never drive Eco when it's warm out. I average around 18 MPG in normal mode with 60/40 mostly city driving.

I drive only in S and S+ modes. City driving mpg is 15-17. Highway is good. Average is 19.1 right now.

Though I hate to admit it (trying to increase MPGs).....but you're right.

So much for going to 20mpg in ECO.
