Again, apologies for the delay in this post and write-up of my installation…

I hope these pictures and steps help all of you out there looking to install an aftermarket amp and sub in their GS.

Run the amp power cable from the battery, through the firewall, under the door sills, up the rear seat side panel, and through the cable pass-through into the trunk:

**UPDATE** Please see page 4 for an update (4/17/17 - Post #49) to running the remote wire. I was able to find the remote wire from the stock amp and use that.

8/31/2015
Run the amp remote cable from the passenger side fuse box and follow the same path as the power cable into the trunk. Use the 20A ‘WASH’ fuse (right side, third fuse from the bottom):

Connect the ground cable to the body of the car. In the trunk, under the lining against the rear seat, there is a screw hole and that is where I connected this cable:

The OEM amp is located under the right side panel of the trunk – this is where you will connect the LOC. Use the amp 30 pin plug to tap into the red (+) and white (-) wires at pins 6 and 21:

DO NOT CUT these two wires, just splice them and tape the LOC wires to them per the instructions provided with your LOC. I used an old LOC that I had, but the installation should be mostly the same for others – below are the instructions that I followed:

Run the RCA cables from the LOC to where your amp will be located. You should now have all of the cables ran to amp location and all trunk lining should be back in place:

And that should do it. All you have to do now is adjust the LOC, amp, and stereo to your liking. Please let me know if you need any other details and I will try to get them to you.

Question

Thanks for posting the DYI man. I will install a small powered JL sub whenever I get a chance. Now be a sport and tackle those speakers would you? LOL. Actually, I did have a chance to take a look at those speakers when I installed some Dymanats on the doors. Those speakers are all components (F-sport, Non-ML) and looked pretty decent. The reason I added the Dynamats was not for sound deadening as I think the GS is a pretty quiet car. Well, road noise can be improved but I am not complaining. Somehow the car blocks exterior noise pretty well but there is sound leak when I am standing outside the car. I actually hear my music at average volume level when standing outside of the car. I added some Dynamats so my neighbor don't hear my music everytime I pull into the sub-division. . It works pretty well, a lot less sound leak now. Anyhow, I tried to look into replacing the door speakers without replacing the stock amp. (I am into sound quality than loundness.) Anyone has any luck finding speakers that works well with our stock amp?
