Maybe look into the F-sport CAI, since it removes sound generator. That way if something goes wrong, Lexus won't blame it on your aftermarket parts. It says for the IS, but it's the same engine. Someone on this forum fitted it to their GS.

If I replace it with the one from the 3GS, I will keep the original and put it back on when I take the car in for service.

No reason to swap it every time you take the car in for service. Odds are they won't even notice, and even if they did why would they care?
