What's even more sad is Lexus mocked BMW for putting a 4 cyl in the 5 Series and now they're doing the exact same thing to the GS. Maybe the LS will get a 4 cyl engine too next.
Putting a turbo charged 4 cyl in a larger heavier car almost never really works out. The 4 cyl turbo in the Mustang gets worse fuel economy then the 6 cylinder, the 4 cyl turbo in the Acura RDX got worse fuel economy then the higher hp quicker V6, there are other models where the 4 cylinders get worse fuel economy then the 6 cylinders they replace.
This is a sad trend sticking 4 cylinders in larger heavier cars they are not suited for for no real benefit in the real world.
Agreed! If people want to save gas, getting the smaller engine option isn't necessarily the answer. It's more of the way you drive. There is some truth in this segment of the highly entertaining show Top Gear. Go to 4:18 for the fuel economy segment between Toyota Prius and BMW M3.

You should make a prediction of GS350 getting twin turbos or supercharger! Maybe it'll come true
We heard awhile back there is a mill in the works but have ZERO information on it. MY17 is a remote possibility (more wishful thinking than anything based on the 06/07 powertrain shuffle) but I wouldn't doubt MY18 or even MY19 when the 5GS is closer to fruition. Of course the IS, RC or even LS could debut a new FI 6 in the future too. All speculation at this point

Why don't you look up the ladder, at the excellent 2.0T in the 528i? That engine rocks, and there's no reason why it shouldn't work for the GS, which is lighter. Maybe Lexus' specific implementation of the 2.0T is poor, but that doesn't mean the concept is bad.
the comment about the n20 motor is true, it does rock is it perfect no.
it has torque and power from around 1250 rpm virtually no lag, moves a 3800 pound 5 series in 6.0 to 60 mph
in sport mode is as playful as the gs 6, gets 40 mpg at 65 w cruise control on, and getting 28.3 combines with 60 to 40 split highway city for 1400 miles
it can be done and shame on toyota /lexus who has supercharge and turbo expertise to be 4 years behind the 8 ball..this new car market is about being proactive with efficiency and tech and style no reactive...
this american guy who gets on stage at the events and is interviewed on lexus enthusiast should be demoted and get a clue.. remember the ls400, the ls430 i do i owned both, both were game changers, the ls going in to 9th model year with outdated looks, outdated powertrains for efficiency, shame on lexus...
you want a reliable car, you can't beat the japs most of the drivers are looking for the whole package and lexus is playing catch up instead of reinventing.
Agree 100% man, just too busy. Cant wait to see the spindle grill on it though...
Kinda knew the 2016 Refresh would look like GS F, esp with the front bumper, and tail lights, because Lexus wouldn't spend the money to create a more different design for both variants.
The Photoshop rendering of the 2016 GS F Sport Refresh below has the front bumper and rego plate placed too low compared to real life.
I thought the refreshed ES' chrome-faced grill blades, or even the all new RX's metallic grey grill blades looked more upmarket than the refreshed GS' blackish plastic grill blades?
I swear Lexus loves making people mad, the full screen navi is exactly what I wish the GS had, they better make a navi update.
My thing is not having the nav on the right side. For long trips I don't need to see to stay on the current road for 30 miles when I can have the audio screen up.
Hard for me to tell if I like the front end. I like the GS F styling but then again I love the Blue (can't you tell ). I think I would like the F sport styling better. Only wish they let you combine lux and F sport package or offered an appearance package.
