Default Lexus Driver Got a ticket while driving my car

I had my car picked up (and a loaner with me) by my dealership for covered warranty repair of the peeling leather on my driver's seat. The other day, I received a ticket in the mail from a speed camera that caught the Lexus driver doing 45mph in a school zone where the speed limit is 30 on his way back to the dealership!

Got in touch with the Service Mgr who said that they would take care of the cost of the ticket but...i'm still waiting on a check from them.

Its not so much that they'll cover the $$$, but its that the driver is careless with my car.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Points? Insurance ramifications?

It could happen yes, but as long as they're paying and no points against ur records I'd say ur good.

The only thing u can do is to minimize the chance of someone else driving ur car.

True! How does that affect you other than the fine? I know our techs at my shop have been pulled over while driving a customers car but it was all on them.

Checks in the mail huh? I'd go down there and tell them you're waiting until you get your check.

At least he didn't have it up to 120 on the highway!

I know in Washington State, a traffic camera citation is treated like a parking ticket - it does not go on your record or insurance. We found this out when my sister in law borrowed our car while in town for a visit...

Same as red light camera tickets.
Anyone can be the driver of your car..

Truth is, no points or insurance ramifications because here in NYC this data isn't captured/sent to insurance companies for camera infractions.

I think i'll def. feel better about the whole thing once I see the reimbursement check in my mailbox lol

Still makes me weary about having a driver come out and take my car - might be the last time I let someone else drive it (messed up part is that my dealer is an hour away from me).

In CA I believe cam tickets are considered a moving violation, so u will get points if u don't go to traffic school.

It's actually better if they get a speeding ticket, cause it will be on their license instead of the car owner's.

I would call and talk to the dealership accounting office and ask if a check has been cut for you. If not, I would talk to the General Manager of the store.

Thanks for the advice i'm gonna give them another few days b/c when I spoke to the Service Manager exactly one week ago on 10/1, he said that the check would be mailed but it would take about 8-10 business days to get to me...

May have been waiting for payroll so the cost could be deducted from the drivers pay

This. My sister got a red light cam ticket in a car I co-signed for and it went on my record. We had to do paperwork stating that it was not me that was driving.

This is why in Cali u see a lot of cars rolling with paper plates everywhere. Even some beat up cars from the 90's still roll with dealer plates. Come on!
