Default Is anyone disappointed with how our cars sound?

Unfortunately, I am. It makes me not want to drive spirited at all. It sounds unrefined and just artificial.

I heard a tlx blast off and the engine sounds naturally good.

My E90s engine sound made me want to rev it more and drive spirited. It was a manual so it was a joy to hear it open up. It had a deep growl and at higher RPMs it sounds like it's enjoying it.

The GS however just sounds like it's struggling which clearly isn't but I wish Lexus made it either silent or sound better; not what we have now.

Sorry for the B fest.

Go with a joe z exhaust, it really changes how the car sounds. You'll definitely enjoy the joe z exhaust it gives it that same feeling that your e90 gave. I have never actually reved an e90 but I have had the pleasure of doing some donuts in a 88 635CSI my god did that car sound good.

Many folks on the forum attest to MrDemon's recommendation that the Joe Z exhaust sounds great.

MrDemon: Does the JoeZ Exhaust for the GS pass state inspections? Is it a street legal exhuast? I noticed that the carson toyota website has a disclaimer on the description of the axel-back that reads: "For Off Road Use Only."

Axle back won't affect emissions. Some jurisdictions have sound restrictions and thats why its easier to just slap the label "For off road use only."

Here in California I'm sure it passes as I've heard the exhaust several times; where I live the San Fernando valley many people have exhausts that loud and even full straight pipes and they don't get any sort of citations

Sounds like its struggling? Not at all. I wish I could hear the exhaust more but thats nothing a axleback couldnt fix.
The induction on the other hand sounds great I love the sound generator.

E90's are sporty sport cars, while the GS is a luxury Sports car (at least that's the way it seems to me)

Slap a Joe-Z Full Exhaust on that and you will love the sound faster than you can spell B-M-W.

Then come back here, post pics, video clips and your thoughts on the new sound, after driving the ever loving s#it out of it of course! lol

I'm not saying it has the best sound, but I am generally impressed with the noise. And I've had compliments from passengers.

I test drove a BMW 535 and an Audi A6 3.0T before I got the GS. I personally feel that the GS 'sounds' far superior to those other two and it helped my decision among the 3.

I think your expectation is a bit too high. This is a sports sedan and a significant number of owners are female. I think Lexus knew and chose to go this half way. They could certainly make it louder. IMO though I do like the thick sound it generates when pushed in S+, esp with the old 6 gears. On the other hand Joe Z is good choice if one needs more noise. Couple of members seem pleased with that product.

You say the sound is amazing, but how is the noise?
