what sort of v6 were you hoping for in the gs? A stronger one that gets less mileage ??? or a weaker one that gets more mileage ??

Not surprising that when you build a 2016 GS F Sport it directs you to dealers with 2015 models. They are really trying to clear them off the lots.

With the 16s arriving at dealerships in the coming weeks, they will be blowing out the 15s for the next couple of months. There will still be a market for them, especially at the monthly lease payment you'll be able to find a $58k MSRP vehicle....

Simply put: a new one.

The current 2GR-FSE 3.5 liter V6 was first used on the IS350 for the 2006 model year.

Here we are 10 years later and it's still being used! It was built to be rock solid and won many awards, which is why Lexus has stuck with it. They have shared it across their lineup too (economies of scales = lower cost of goods sold = higher profit margin). Not hating on Lexus for milking the heck out of the engine, but we need something new!

I am sure you know how much more efficient competitor engines are now & produce more power than ours. This is why Lexus hasn't been able to compete with MB, Audi, BMW, etc... sure they can add the bells & whistles to our cars.. but you'll still using an engine which was built for the market 10 years ago.

I (personally) want a new, more efficient V6 that can be used across the Lexus lineup.

Depending on where the power band is for this new engine, the more Lexus sporty models can add a supercharger (for low rpm power) or a turbocharger (for higher rpm power).

Imho, a modern NA V6 should be able to produce close to 300 hp, while averaging around 27 mpg.

You then supercharge or turbocharge that (I would love a twin turbo engine like the previous Supra) and have "performance" models - i.e. the "F" models.

Since I'm a big fan of the torque & efficiency of hybrid setups though - I would love something like this "next generation" 400 hp Toyota Supra that's supposedly in the works: http://www.motortrend.com/news/toyot...-the-pipeline/

Hope that helps with your questions,

Oddly enough, it only shows available on the GS350 AWD.

Still some bugs to shake out of the build a Lexus. For instance Rioja Red interior isn't available on most builds, including the 350 F Sport, which doesn't make any sense. If you try to add it, it says you have to switch to a 200t F Sport build, but if you do that it still doesn't show up as an option.

Some real stupid web designers at Lexus. I built a '16 F Sport last night. Now when I go back to the site it has saved that car. When I click on "edit build" I get a message saying, "Sorry, you will have to start a new build". Then, when I click on that message it takes me back to the car I built last night with no way to change it.

Hello, Lexus, are you listening?
