Default blue light on dash + maintenance question

I'm a brand new owner of a 2013 GS350 that I've had for just a few days and so far I am in love. I noticed I have this blue light at the top center of the dash that keeps fading in and out day or night. Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that I can make this either go away completely or atleast stop the fading effect??

On a side note, I'll be coming up on a 30K mile maintenance within the next 6 months or so and my local Lexus dealer quoted me roughly $525 or so. Does that sound accurate to you guys / gals?

That is indicating how "economical" you are being with the throttle, if you cycle the display button on your steering wheel to the settings screen on the dash you can change how that light should illuminate and its brightness.

Also, if you put your car in sport mode, and assuming everything is set to default, that light will turn red and stay solid red.

Thanks Joe...I'll give that a try.

The 30,000 mile service is a glorified oil change. An independent mechanic should not charge much over $100.

I think you can turn off the fading blue light thing by adjusting settings on the instrument cluster display. It will involve a lot of DISP button presses.

These are the services performed at 30K miles, and your price sounds about right. Make sure to check your dealer's website for service specials.

That may be the case. According to the maintenance book, in addition to the oil & filter, they also change out brake fluid, smart key battery, tires, both filters, and then inspect a bunch other stuff. But to your point, I may check around and see if I can find a Indy that specializes in these cars much like I did for my 5 series, only those Indy's were pretty much in line with the dealer as far as parts / labor.

+1. I just had them change my oil at 30K. The inspections are done with regular oil changes anyway. The are happy to do inspections since they can possibly find more work that needs done. If they were doing a flush & fill with full bleed on the brakes it may be worth them doing it. Mine however, admitted it was just sucking out the fluid in the reservoir and refilling (think turkey baster). Once again, something easily done yourself.

Thanks but I don't work on cars...The most you'll find me doing is changing air/engine filters and then I'm like

....You could always take it to a Toyota Dealership for service. Mine does my brakes, oil changes, filters, tire rotations, and don't have to pay that Lexus price.
