Question Cabin Filter

Hi,

I just got my first Lexus a few days ago: 2014 Lexus GS 350 - Base - RWD - 4200 miles

I took it in for a pre-purchase inspection and the only thing they said to do was to replace the cabin filter. I really don't want to take it to a shop just to get that done, so was thinking of trying it myself. Any pointers/tips for a beginner like me?

Thanks!

its very easy to do, 5 min and ur done, open the glove box and u will see a L shape tray , pop that out by pressing the bottom tabs, and when u take it out, u will see the cover in the back , just pop the cover out and slide the filter out, make sure u see which way the arrow is pointing so u can put it back the same way, and thats it buddy.

Pretty sure you need to make sure the air flow is set to recirculate before turning the car off also otherwise you risk damaging the door that switches between external and internal air.

Pretty sure they changed that....at least for 2015 there is no mention of setting the system to recirculate in the owners manual and it's pretty straight forward if you look in your glove box....

I'm curious about this "having to press recirculate" to change the cabin air filter.

I know that it was mentioned and referenced in this topic:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ml#post9090274

mrpartsman - did you press the recirculate button to get the filter into the "correct" position before changing it?

I don't seen this mentioned anywhere is the 2013 GS450h manual (see screenshots below). I'm curious if the GS350 manual is different in this regard.

Thanks in advance,

Cabin filter replacement @ 4300 miles?
Thats ridiculous. If I'm not mistaking that should be replaced every 30k miles....
Read the owners manual.

Agreed, but I'm just going by what the technician told me. I'll take a picture of it and post it here.

Mice keep making nests on top of it because it is horizontal and warm. I finally just pulled it out. Solved the problem with the mice.

Had to do this on my 2013 ES as well

Agree with xRYD3Rx: cabin filter replacement is ridiculous at 4200 miles. If you do replace it, however, PM me so you can ship it to me, postage prepaid. I'll use it. Kidding aside, though, before ordering a new one, take it out, shake it, vacuum it, and reuse it. It'll be perfectly fine.
