Totally helps. In fact all of the replies on this board and the IS board have been great. Once my local Lexus dealership gets the 2016 GSs in, I'll have to test drive both. Assuming the GS is fun enough, I'm leaning that way.

The "selfish" thing is totally true - the IS would be for me only. The only benefit for the rest of the family (if I get the IS) would be the extra money left in the bank, and my 17 year old when he borrows it!

Save the money since you are normally in the car by yourself. In addition, you can use that saving for upcoming college expenses since the 17 year old will be graduating soon. Just another perspective.....and BTW I am 45 as well with a 15 and 11 year old and we enjoy my IS!!!

The GS gets my vote, but then again, I may appear to be slightly biased.

Ah, I'm not a huge fan of the first gen. Not to mention, I'd need a 4 car garage at that point!

Ah gotcha. Well lets hope you don't like the 5GS, otherwise looks like one of these is sleeping outside

Even though I don't have an IS or a GS. I test drove the GS F Sport before getting an RC F, the GS is very nice. Very luxurious and def an "adult" car. My vote goes to the GS.

Handling isn't a fixed thing either. IS might be more nimble, but how often will you use the it? My WRX is more nimble than my GS, but the GS is so much more settled. High speed on a winding highway ( which I drive a lot ) the GS kills it in the handling department. I would need a track or have to push to seriously unsafe speeds for the WRX to find an advantage.
