Just lost a windshield on my 2017 a few weeks ago. Thank god for full glass coverage as ended up being $1750 with install and all calibrations for the safety systems/camera. As a long time Lexus owner (many models), I 've had windshield issues several times. In doing research, it appears that Lexus (and other brands I imagine) use low durometer glass. In other words, the glass is softer to cut down on vibration & road noise. While it makes the car quieter, it sure as hell doesn't help when a rock hits it. All these carmakers could make the windshields more durable against impact, but they clearly aren't interested as it lets them sell more replacements. I can say though I've never replaced with aftermarket glass & only use OEM. Read too many stories about distortions, etc with the aftermarket glass.
