Default GS Now Has Turbo Option?

That's what the lady says on the new commercial. Is it true?

Nothing to be excited about...a slow turbo-4.

Turbo 4 which is the standard starting engine for everyone in the mid size class now. Something Lexus ridiculed in commercial a year ago. Unfortunately, Lexus managed to make an engine with much less oomph than all the competitors and gets lousy gas mileage too. That is a real engineering feat.

Its basically the GS300 in a 4 instead of a 6, comparable HP.

That really sucks. I'm going to have to abandon Lexus. I abandoned Acura when they took the Turbo charger and Super-Handling AWD out of the RDX, and substituted two more cylinders and regular, conventional AWD. Basically they turned it into a soccer mom car. Now Lexus fails me.

I had a RX200t loaner today. I cannot imagine a GS with that weak-*** 4 cylinder turbo 228 horsepower engine. Yuk!

The 200t actually has more power than Benz's 2.0 turbo, and very similar power and torque to BM's 2.0 turbo.
Although Benz's turbo has less power, Benz's turbo has a relatively flatter torque curve, combined with a relatively smooth revving nature.

BM's 2.0 turbo is more powerful, and relatively smooth revving like the Benz, but unfortunately, BM's turbo has a peakier torque curve.

Lexus has a fairly powerful 2.0 turbo like the BM, with a relatively flat torque curve like the Benz, but the Lexus turbo does not rev as smoothly as either Benz or BMW.

Thus presently, none of the small capacity turbos are perfect; each have their pros and cons.

The Turbo is the Rated PG version of the GS FSport.

Assume you meant NX200t which puts out 235hp, while the IS200t/RC200t/GS200t put out 241hp

It's to help sales by offering more price points to compete with other auto manufacturers and it also gets 34+ mpg. No different than previous GS models offered with different engines. A lot of car manufacturers are decreasing engine size and adding turbos to compensate.

I drove an IS200t recently, and while the top end of the RPM band isn't bad, the low end torque is horrible, it was a deal breaker for me

If BMW can have an entry level 5 series (525 with M Sport Package), this Turbo F Sport must be the equivalent.
