Default 2016 GS tail light to 2013-15

Hello guys,

Brand new to this forum, picked up my 2015 GS350 F Sport this past November.
I love how our cars look but definitely love how the rear tail lights look on the 2016 model, I compared both tail lights side by side and seems like they are identical.
Would anyone have an idea if we could easily change our tail lights to the new ones without too much work?

Anyone with a 2016 is willing to open up their trunk area and look at the wiring to see if it's similar?

I'd like to know this as well for my 2013 GS350. I currently have the V3 tritons for my turn signals but now I really like the clear look of the 2016's as well. Plus they have factory led turn signals.

I was going to do something like you guys with my 1999 ES300, and the wiring is pretty much the same, however the four tail light lenses, ie two pairs of lenses costs something like $2k, so it just wasn't worth it.

In many years time, you may be able to buy 2016 tail light lenses from the wreckers for much cheaper, but then the 2016 will be old hat by then...

Id like to see this done as well. Im convinced that they swap over. Same foes for the front end. Now obviously that would take more work and more parts. But I wouldnt doubt if you can convert the front end as well

I agree, the front looks like it can be done but the only issue I see is the head lights. Either you get a body shop to merge parts of the 13 -15 bumper (areas around headlight) with the 2016 bumper or you could get the new headlights and hopefully the wiring is the same.

I don't think the front end is compatible at all. Completely different headlights.

Prob have to upgrade to the 2016 bumper along with headlights + DRLs.

I agree with you meng. Love the NX tails with the black surround but not feeling the new GS tails, and this is from someone who's seen them in person.

So all 2016 comes with LED rear turn signal but not the front?

The fitment may be a direct replacement since the shape is the same but the plugs may not. I am 99.999% sure that the plugs are different.

Yeah you would def need new headlights, front bumper, grill etc. I did one of these conversion a year ago on my 2010 TL. I updated it to a 2014 front and rear end which was more refined and
subtle as opposed to the earlier models

I kept rear end original 2011 TL but converted only front end to 2012

Reviving this just to inform.

Called the local dealership and asked for pricing on 2016 GS tail lights.
For all four tail light pieces we are looking at a 1k conversion.

That is not including if we would need to do any custom wiring.

Might be able to get some money out of our old tail lights but it is a costly conversion.

Ordered them yesterday and this thread pops up again.
Reistors are probably one of the things that need to be done to prevent hyper blinking other than that we'll see what needs to be modified.

That's actually pretty fair, considering its from the dealership. I thought it would have been a bit more.

A new thread is in order with a DIY if you can!
