I never track gas mileage to be honest. Stems from my last car which drank premium and me not wanting to know how bad it is. Why would AS3's decrease MPG though?

Before I purchase GS350 I had an Acura TLX. In that car I only got 28 mpg on highway with AS3 tires. Then I did the same trip on a TLX with stock tires in similar traffic condition and got about 31 mpg. Then I checked online and found out this is a common occurrence.

It makes sense in theory, as the sticky or grippier the tires the less rolling resistance, so there is a compromise in traction vs mpg I would think. Here is a MPG comp from the AS3's vs some competitors. Not too much of a diff but def not the top.

Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position 27.9
Continental ExtremeContact DWS 29.0
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season 29.2
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 28.4

This is good to know. I m the market for new tire set for my Leased Merc C. My issue is I used the OEM tire set that came with the car around 50% and now I m thinking of keeping that tire set aside and used non run flat tire set for the merc and return the car with the original set. Now I want to buy a tire set that I can use in both my cars as mercs lease is up in next year and I m currently using snow tires. So merc has a staggered setup and front is 225/40R19 with wheel size of 19x7.5J. I think I m gonna have to sticke with that size and later installed it in to my Lexus
