So did Lexus design the 4GS better than the 3GS? If you forgot to put the car in re-circulate mode (or vice versa) you would break the fragile plastic piece that allowed you to switch from fresh air to cabin air. In order to fix that mistake you had to completely tear the car apart and it cost $2,000 to replace....or some other ridiculous number. Lexus was also very apprehensive to cover it under warranty.

I think on the 4GS as soon as u turn off the engine it automatically goes to outside airflow.

This thread shouldn't even need to exist.
You turn the car off, open up the door in the glove box, pull out the old filter, put in the new one, close the door. Done.
This is the same process as basically every other car that is produced.
I used the OEM filter last time and this weekend I hit my 30,000 mile checkup and I put in the TYC filter.
