Default 2015 GS350 F-Sport Intake

Hey guys, so I've been trying to decide on an intake for my 2015 GS350, was thinking of getting the JoeZ pipe and K&N drop in.
But upon looking at my stock intake, it seems as the 2015 GS got its Intake Re-worked.
There seems to be an extra outlet that seems to be an exhaust on the intake. (See attached pictures)

I've looked at prior GS (2013-2014) and their intake looks way different because those have a small reservoirs that looks totally different than the think that looks like an exhaust.

Anyone have an idea what that is exactly?
Also, would I

be able to install the JoeZ pipe?

i believe that is the intake sound creator:

you should be able to swap the joe z intake in but then you'll lose that "feature."

Its the sound creator. It's on 2013-16 GS models. Look in my Liquid Platinum build thread. I replaced mine with a JoeZ intake. Changing just the intake will quiet the cars throatey sound a bit

These days, a lot of manufacturers including BMW and Benz use artificial sound to enhance, ie make their engines sound better.
This is especially important for the new breed of high efficiency small capacity four and three cylinder turbos which are naturally harsh in noise and vibration characteristics.
