Did the 18" factory wheels have a chrome option from the dealer?
I recently bought a used 4GS and it has the OEM wheels, but in chrome. Were those a dealer option or did the previous have it done custom? It's pretty ****ing ugly.
They were probably a dealer option. All 3 of the Lexus dealers I checked out when I bought my '13 GS350 offered chrome wheels as a local option. They sent the wheels out to be chromed by a local vendor. The option was in the neighborhood of $2000 for 4 wheels. I declined the option.
Dealers in certain areas like CA/TX offer it as an option but Lexus dealerships don't do it themselves. They always outsource any chrome wheel options (certainly the trend over the last decade has been a movement away from shiny chrome wheels to darker/matte black/black chrome).
I have the same 18" wheels in the standard finish which is classified as "Superchrome." It is darker with a very subtle reflective finish.
Since you're not a fan of the wheels, take a look at a this thread with all the OEM wheel options available so far for the 4th generation:
