Default Can 2015 Navigation Screen be upgraded to look like '16 model?

Does anyone know if there is a firmware update out yet or in the works to be release for the 13-15 models? Was hoping the dealership can do it for me when I bring my car in for the 5,000 service. Thanks in advance for any info.

Lexus is terrible at making "upgrades" to system from one model year to another. They'll update your maps, but they won't update/upgrade the system. It's like their way of getting customers to buy new cars...

You will have to buy a new navi unit, and hope the wiring is the same. No other way....

I would think it would be a simple software update to the Navi unit. I find it hard to believe Lexus wouldn't think that far ahead when building their vehicles to improve profit margins for future car models and compatibility ( charge for a navi software update which has higher margins than charging for a new navi unit). But then again I'm not surprised, look at how our country is run. How much is a new navi unit?

That's just it, they did plan it. I've harped on this topic a lot. It ticks me off that just about all computer operated devices today get operating systems upgrades. But not Lexus, they want you to but a new car. I wish I knew someone with skills to hack the OS, and make my map full screen. Kinda like a jail broken iPhone.

Does lexus really think a lot of 4th gen owners are gonna drop their current vehicles which they have only had for 1-3 years just for an extra 3 inches of navi map screen? I would think the driving force would be a new exterior look. Yep, I'm annoyed too!

Unfortunately not. Lexus almost never updates their software. What they may do is release a firmware update to fix some major glitches, but that's it.

The new unit would cost around $8,800. the best option would be finding one used on ebay (when they become available)

Actually u can. But it costs about $50K.

If u look at the 16 model, the buttons on the mouse are actually different, so unless u buy a new car u can't have the new system.

Only uodate i would like is for the images of the navi map to utilize the full 12.3" of the screen like a 16 GS model. I'm ok with every other feature of the car as is.

Got it... Lexus likes to change wiring + some hardware year to year like 2013 vs 2014+ models. I doubt they would have any kind of updates 2014+ from 2016 model, might be many changes again.
