License plate frame?

Both times I went to go pick up my personalized plates at the Fort Bend office they never made me remove my old window sticker. They just told me to make sure I get my new plates and sticker on within 24 hours as the current plates will no longer be valid and I could get pulled over if I don't. Maybe they changed the rules?

I received an email from the Ft Bend office, they asked for my VIN/current plate number and will have my plates ready for my daughter to pick up at her convenience. Kudos to the management there.

I use a KMA-628 plate frame.
KMA-628 is the Los Angeles Sheriff Dept. official Federal Communications Commission (FCC) call sign. You can get the plate frames from a relative that works for the LASD, It identifies you as related to a Sheriff officer.
It's a little thing, but having it will usually keep you from being pulled over for non-sense, if you are blatantly driving like a jackhole it probably won't help much, but I have found over the years that it works for getting a warning over a citation for little stuff.
Usually the first question from the officer stopping me is "who do you know in XX department"
