Default Just bought a 2014 GS, looking for bluntly honest opinions on my deal

There's no going back now, but I would still like some opinions from you guys on how well I made out. I just bought a 2014 GS 350 with 15768 miles premium package and CPO for 36375. I think that's a decent deal considering the condition of the vehicle. The salesman and finance lady said they took a loss on it, but who knows how trustworthy that is. Low end of blue book says 35,100, but I also get all of my maintenance checks/oil changes free within the CPO period.

I'd like to know what your opinions are on how well I did good or bad, thanks.

I just traded a 2014 with Luxury and Levinson package. The car was immaculate and about the same miles. Because the car is still listed at a dealer (was last week) I'd prefer not to say what they gave me for the car, but I will say that based upon what they gave me as a trade your deal is extremely fair.

No, it's a regular model.

Why not say and post the link? You could help someone that wants to buy it negotiate. Pay it forward, the CL way.

Haha. Agreed. If I was searching, this would be a huge negotiation piece.

I buy a lot of cars and value my relationship with the dealers. I will not disclose information like that. When I walk through a dealers doors I want them to know that I'm fair and will not compromise my relationship with them when I know they have given me a deal that is probably better than they can give everyone who walks through their door. I guess to be blunt, I value my relationship with my dealer more than with a bunch of strangers on a forum.

So basically.

You get a deal, and someone else's gotta cover it.

Sadly, i'm just not that nice.

Excellent deal b/c of the mileage - any 2yr old GS with such low mileage for that price point is a steal! Congrats

The dealer said they took a loss, and said that I got it for like 500 above wholesale, but I don't know whether to believe that or not.

Unless it sat there for 2-3 months they would not likely have sold it at a loss. But whether they did or didn't it sounds like a good deal. I will say this about the deal I got on my trade. They advertised the car as a CPO for $42k and I looked the other day and it's gone. Again, that was a $59k list price 2014 with about 16,000 miles on it. That's what I'm comparing your deal to.

I got my NonCPO 2014 GS350 Fsport with Marks, Parking Sensors, and BSM with 20,000 miles for $35,500 total out the door. I think I got a pretty good deal. Didn't feel the need for paying the premium on a CPO for a car that is still so new.

I think the reason why we're all here is dealers notoriously screw people over. Thus, building intelligence about the buy is a part of the negotiation process. I think your position is naive to believe your upholding some sort of loyalty because you've negotiated some sort of special deal.

A dealer never loses-ever. If the transaction is lower than they want, there are always hold-back incentives for volume, etc.

Your job is to get the best price possible and their job is to get you to pay the most.
