Default Subwoofer? :D

So I am in the market for a subwoofer to put in my trunk. Any suggestions as to what brand along with the reason why that one? Thank you!

Jl w7. Nice tight bass, proven performance. 10 inch is perfect.

That is a great sub, I have a 12W6 and it's smooth as butter. Tight bass, hard impact and plays well down to 20hz. I'm running it off my Audison Voce 5 channel amp with a 1,000 watts rms to it at 2 ohms with the gains turned down.

Here is the 10 inch version of what I have. It's a great package for the money. And all you need is an amp with atleast 500 watts RMS at 2ohms.

This amp would be perfect

The only thing about the JL 12w7 is it's 3 ohm sub so you will need to either match with one of JL Audio's amps or make sure you purchase an amp that is 3 ohm stable.

Other good subs as well listed below... These are more SQ subs which is what i prefer. I use to be a bass head but these days I like the sub bass to be blended in with the music well and not overpower the other speakers. But trust me they will still get down with more than enough bass for anyone when cranked up full tilt.

Wow thank you for all the information that you have provided I am definitely not a bass head and looking for a little more added beat, not enough to take over. I have the stock sound without the M/L and based on your suggestion the 3 sub bass would fit my needs without the need of a amp correct since they are 2 ohms and not 3?

You will still need an amplifier regardless to power a subwoofer.

It's just that the JL 10W7 is an odd 3 ohm sub. But they sound very impressive matched with a JL Amp that can handle the 3 ohm load properly.

Do you have a budget on what you'd like to spend on equipment or the sub, box and amp? If so I could maybe help guide you with some good options to piece together into a nice little package.

Around 500-700, max limit of a thousand. Trying to not exceed too much since I will eventually have to get coilovers, new wheels and than exhaust.

I had a 12" Alpine Type-R with a ported box in my GS and it sounded great.

I have a 12 w6 paired with a 500w JL amp. many people think i have 2x12, but its just one 12 in a sealed box.

I would recommend the JL shallows.in a sealed box.

Reason #1 is at the top of this list. Tight baseline, no overkill, keep your trunk space.

Would you happen to know what the installation procedure would be?

Amplifier and subwoofer installs are fairly routine. Are you installing yourself? The basic instructions are here. Search these forums and one member has posted a step-by-step of the GS 350 with photos. Set aside a weekend and it shouldn't be too much trouble. If you don't feel up for it, any BestBuy or local car audio place can do the install for $100-$200 and 3 hours or so. Beyond those generics, you'd need to pick out all your gear. As an example, the setup I'm about to install will use a JL Shallow, an Alpine MRV-M500 amp, a 4 guage amp kit, and and Audio Control LC2i, with a PAC LC1 remote bass ****. Total cost is about the same as your budget. Produces reasonable bass. Shallow sub saves trunk space. The all black amp and LC2i keep the whole setup very stealth. The **** allows instant adjustments and bass kill if needed. The 4 gauge amp kit allows upgrades later in life if wanted.

I look forward to your modifications and to see how it turns out wishing all the best

Looking to upgrade as well. Probably go with a single JL Audio 12 and JL Audio amps. How are their component speakers?
