LED Turn Signal DIY

Has anyone tried LED switchback turn signals for the front bulbs? I mean the actual turn signal bulbs and not the running lights being changed to switchback. Curious as to how that would look alongside the DRLs.

I don't think i've ever seen that done on the standard turn signals on a pre-refresh, but it would certainly be a unique look!

With a switchback LED, there is usually a "white" and an "amber" led that illuminate depending on if you initiate the turn signal/hazards. I think if you replace your existing turn signals with switchbacks, you might need to do some extra custom work to get constant power to illuminate the "always on" white portion of the bulb to illuminate.

I've done this to several cars, you'll need to replace the single mode bulb with a dual mode aka switchback as mentioned. To do this you will need replace the socket so it accepts a dual mode bulb then wire in the DRL to power the always on (white) part of the bulb.
As for "the look" I think it's a nice upgrade.

so I’m assuming it would be somewhat similar to this. Only thing that would get me is the wiring stuff https://youtu.be/xY6rK4EjRZ4

Yep, could be differences like socket and connectors but same concept.
You'll need to run 1 wire from the DRL lights/socket to both sides of the car to power the white portion of the bulb. If your car is using 6 volts to drive the DRLs then you'll also need a relay so it gives the bulb 12 volts. Another way is use a converter like this will make the wiring easier because you won't have to tap into a 12volt source.
