Bluetooth + iPhone 6 = no sound for incoming text
I have a VZW iPhone 6 IOS 9.3.2 that I can successfully pair with my 2015 GS350 w/ Nav. It is the only device paired.
I have no issues with calls (incoming/outgoing). Ringer tone comes from the iPhone, not the car.
For text messages, I have it set to NOT display incoming text on the Nav display. This is working fine.
However, my issue is that I can NOT get any Text Tone for incoming text on my iPhone.
The only way I can get it to work is to go into the Bluetooth settings, and select "Disconnect as an Audio Player" for the paired iPhone. See attached screenshot.
Once disconnected, the Text Tone works just fine. When someone sends me a text, the Text Tone comes from the iPhone. But I have to do this every single time the phone is paired with the car Bluetooth.
Does anyone else have this problem? TIA.

Figured it out today. When connected to,the car, on the iPhone go to iPhone Bluetooth settings, click the little i to the right of "connected". And turn on "show notifications"
Now you'll hear the noise and see the message on the navi screen

not sure if this helps to give you an idea to play with... my Wife's RX is setup as follows:
her phone is connected only for calls, my phone is connected only as a audio player.
she can make calls on BT and i cant,
but i can play music and she cant.
i remember adding my phone as an audio player from the audio menu not the phone menu.
also you should turn "show notifications" off on the phones settings.
