hey guys..

my Dunlop's are close to the wear bars and is time to replace it.. America's tyre is running an promo this weekend and I'm thinking about replacing it..

My question is, i'm going to go one size bigger.. 245/35/19 in the front and the rear to 275/30/19 with that it open up a few more choices..

I have narrowed it down to either Pilot super sport or AS3+.. my car rarely sees rain.. Should i go for an summer time vs all season? for most the time, it would be my weekend car.. I still have my truck for daily driver.

with the bigger set up, any speedo issues?

I was told that the Pilot Super Sports are being phased out. The Pilot A/S3+ has the same contact patch as the Super Sports with the added benefit of being manufactured from a material that has more grip and being all season. I'm running 245/40R19 on the front of my car with 275/35R19 on the rear without issue.

I'd personally go for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or the Continental Sport Contact 6. These two would be the best

If you live in Cali and never drive in sub 40F temps or in the snow then there is no need to get an all season tire.

I had the PSS on my last car and LOVED them. I had a set of dedicated snows, so it was the best of both worlds. Now I had the AS3s and just like other all season tires, they handle anything, but excel at nothing. The PSSs were MUCH stickier, and quieter and do GREAT in the rain. I have 245/40 all around (AWD) and the speedo is closer to actual now. When these wear out, I will get another set of PSSs (or whatever they have to replace them) with new rims, and get snows for the stock wheels.
With it not being a daily driver, the shorter tread life of the PSSs shouldn't be a big deal either

I 100% agree with puffdaddy's comments above. I was also considering the two tires and after experiencing both I think you won't regret sacrificing a little tread life for the added performance capabilities of the PSS.

I went the AS3 route in those sizes myself. A nice tire with a 500 tread rating instead of the PSS 300. Much quieter than the Dunlops and I didn't notice any traction loss.

But I still only got 24000 out of the rear tires with only normal driving.

The speedo error is a little more than 1% based on calculated tire diameter, so you won't notice it.

I tried the PSS and loved them, but was really surprised that after 10k miles was told they need replacing soon. I live in CA and now mostly drive the surface streets, if that makes a difference. Prior to that, I drove around 50-50 between surface streets and freeway and was able to get around 25k on the original F Sport Dunlap summer tires. Anyway, luckily America's tire went through Michelin and gave me a vey decent prorated warranty discount on a new set of AS3s. Although I do notice a vey slight difference in performance when making tight turns, the trade off in tread wear, which so far looks good, is well worth it. The ties look great, are vert quiet and perform well.

sorry to revive an old thread, i still haven't got new tyres yet. still can't decide to go rather on PSS or AS3+

Have any one tired the new AS3+? there are a few days it gets below 40 where i live.. would that be okay with PSS?
