Default New to GS and to Lexus!

Hello, I am new to Lexus (about five weeks) and I am already experiencing my second problem with a new GS350. First was that nav. screen blackout that I understand affected everybody. And now the same nav is going dark during the brightest of days as if it were dark outside. Does anybody have any insight about this? I just don't want to have to go back to the dealership with a new car in less than a month's period! Thank you in advance.

If the nav goes dark, does the headlight icon light up in the cluster also? Usually those two are connected, so the nav dims when the headlights are on because it's dark (or you cross a long underpass that's dark enough to flip the headlights on).

Couple of things to try. Turn your headlights to manual instead of auto and see if it stops. Try and correlate when it's doing it to ambient light conditions. Also check for obstructions for the light sensor. I believe it's built into the rear view mirror and it faces forward...at least the rain sensor is there.

This is kind of embarrassing but I just fixed the problem by removing a piece of junk mail that had gotten stuck on the lowest part of the windshield, right above and obstructing a small round light sensor.

Thank you anyway Afrosheen for your quick response.
