Default Excessive Oil consumption

I am experiencing excessive oil consumption in my 2013 GS350. It also will occasionally spew large amounts of smoke on startup which I believe to be the cause of the oil consumption.
I am having an issue with Lexus extra care not willing to honor my extended warranty to have the issue fixed. There reasoning is that when they sent a tech out to confirm the issue the car did not spew smoke on startup.
Has anybody else experienced excessive oil consumption or spewing large amounts of smoke on startup? Were you able to get it fixed? How?
Any suggestions on what I can have the dealer do to get the fix covered under warranty? Perhaps tests that could be run?
The dealer suggested I try to get the smoke on start up on video but it is difficult for me to do that by myself. And the few times I was able to set something up to try and get it on video it didn't happen.
This experience has been so frustrating and I was expecting better reliability from Lexus as well as better service.

They can't do a oil consumption test? I know toyota do that. But I don't know lexis do it or not.

Perhaps a BMW or Audi owner can chime in:

If there is blow-by, or oil is getting into the combustion chamber by other means, its consuming. The fact that its gettng a puff at the beginning means there is build up staticly after the engine is shut off (overnight usually). Most blow-by goes completely unnoticed as the minute trickle is so inisignificant that you cant detect it unless tested. Vehicle owners who live in emmissions-testing required states know this pain oh-too-well as that hydrocarbon testing can tell if you're junking the ozone, even a little bit.

If your car is consuming, it could be head gasket(s) or a problewm with the head itself (oil journals or a seat of some sort) but most likely from a broken or worn oil ring on one of the pistons. Could also be a scorched cyclinder wall which would require a hone. Either way, it sucks and can (and will) be pricey if you want it to stop. Edit* - hard to prove but most smoke issue is from beating the engine hard or keeping it in high revs for a long duration and breaking the oil down. How many miles on your GS?

Did you follow Lexus's oil change interval of 10k miles? I wonder if your valve guides are leaking? Do you see any other smoke when you floor the car?
