Resonator DELETE w/ Stock Mufflers!!
#50
I've listened to some clips of Benz C300 and other non-muscle cars adding x-pipes to improve exhaust note and I have to think that a more direct, tubular design would provide extra flow and a more aggressive note to our factory exhaust. The "x-pipe" that is just before our rear set of resonators definitely looks like a cheaply made part and I myself am considering adding a piece like this 2.25" x-pipe at summit racing. <https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-643122> There is plenty of pipe length between the front and rear sets of factory resonators to allow a fabricator to weld it in.
Once this is done, my hope is that an axle back system like the Tanabe or the newer Borla might have a little bit more volume and tone without the drone issues of a full exhaust.

wow unfortunate to have no further replies. but I was wondering if you ever gave this a go? sounds like you were onto something as I also was looking for an outcome with the sound you described without getting the drone issues along with it.
I have mine completely stock since I bought it a few weeks ago, but was thinking of a takeda intake and either an axle back to go along with it, really new to car modifying in general would like some of your insights

Now that the fire has died down, i'm going to stir the coals a bit to see if I can revive this thread.

I have done this. IMO, this is a really awesome setup, it has no drone whatsoever. It adds a nice tone on a cold startup, and with windows down WTO it adds such a nice quality without being too loud. Being young, however, I still intend to add a full exhaust and header system at some point. For someone looking for a more low-key daily setup without any drone, a resonator delete is a happy medium.

Theres not really a drone but there is a deep exhaust note in the lower rpms. And it definitely doesn't have a raspy sound. If you plan on doing it i suggest you delete the resonators and get an X pipe put in instead. It will make the car sound real nice and it'll give you much higher air flow. If you want me to record a video just let me know, ill post one up if you need it.

Lc500 resonate delete
I have 2022 lc500. Did resonate and cat delete . No drone . Car sound 100 times better . It's only loud when you want it Loud. On cruising speed is dead silent and no droning. But push little gas and it becomes beast. Sounds change in sound profile.
