Default Rim discoloration

I took delivery of a my new 15' GS back in May and noticed shortly afterwards that the rims had dark streaks with different patterns on all 4 wheels! Initially, I somewhat ignored because I thought they just needed a good cleaning. After several unsuccessful attempts to clean the wheels, during my 5k maintenance visit, I had the dealership check them out. They said it looked like I used the wrong cleaner(s) and that caused the issue. I demanded to take this a step further and was told that someone from Lexus corp would have to make a decision. Finally, they called me in to have the corp. rep check them out. They told me that they truly felt that the wheels were damaged by the cleaning process. I raised a little hell and mentioned that there were reports from other owners on this site with the same issue. We went back and forth and they finally agreed to "re-finish" the wheels at no cost! They said the rims would look new but that they could only do this once.

During the navi fiasco, I went to a dealer in MD for the fix and while there, noticed several cars on the showroom floor with the same issue which to me would indicate a manufacturer defect. Hopefully, they have or will address this issue and I hope I won't have this problem again. Going forward, I plan to only use soap and water for rim cleaning.

This started with the 2013's, can't believe this is still happening. I wish there was a way to tell new buyers to inspect their wheels before taking delivery. It's obviously a defect and no cleaning product I know of can reach under the clear coat and streak the finish.
