Default stereo aftermarket subwoofer question

i have an alpine amp that accepts speaker line inputs. so theoretically i wouldnt need the unit that would give me rca pre outs from speaker line inputs correct? but my main question is: is a separate bass control **** absolutely necessary? if i am able to use the speaker line inputs there would be no need for a bass **** correct?

thanks

bass **** is not absolutely necessary. I have it because i like having more granular control. Sometimes i want to thump; others i want it very low. The bass **** gives me that ability.

A hi/lo converter increases the output of the speaker line. In other words, you'll get more sound. I'd use one. Specifically the LC2i

And like popping said, bass ***** are good because when you have passengers in the car, you might not want the bass to loud, but when you're riding with bass heads and you wanna show off or by yourself, it comes in handy.
