Default Wells my car is dead. Looks like battery drained

Not sure what happened but it's been 3 years and 2 months with my 2013 GS350. Battery so dead the odometer lights barely come on and I can hear constant clicking. Put it on a tender overnight and still the same. Left a message for dealer to call me back. Looks like I got hit with the notorious battery issue. This better be covered under warranty.

"Notorious"? 3 years on a battery (regardless of vehicle) is pretty much (becoming) the expected standard. Arguably, battery makers are going this route to keep replacement sales up. The GS (like most vehicles) are smart enough to determine the health of a battery and the difference of a volt can make a car completely non-functioning. Have AAA? Replacement is pretty cheap.

Never had a battery fail after 3 years all of a sudden like this. Lexus batteries are like a thousand dollars a pop too. If it's not covered I'll just get an aftermarket battery.

And by notorious there was a battery issue with some GS. Just hoping something isn't draining the battery like a short.

Everyone else replacing their batteries after three years? Generally they seem to last 5+ years in my experience.

Warranty? Battery isn't wear-n-tear is it?

Even die hard batteries from Sears have a warranty. I know my Toyota the battery covered for 5 years.

OP, if your car is still under warranty Lexus Road Assistance, like AAA, will come to you and replace it at no charge. (They just did on our RX350). Agree with Mustang that 3+ years is the norm nowadays, at least for my last four or five batteries in Lexus and Honda vehicles. (Also agree with his conspiracy theory Lastly, you can get a quality replacement battery for less than $200 at just about anywhere. Didn't check the Lexus prices but $1K doesn't sound right. Good luck!!!!

Welps. You guys are correct as always. Apparently 3 years is about right for batteries these days. Oh well hopefully a new battery will fix my woes.

Quick look on internet shows that all the engine diagnostics, alarms, electronic door locks, auto-dimming lights, even radio presets all drain the battery. This is why batteries don't last 10 years like they used to. My battery is going on it's 4th year and I expect it to need replacement in the next year or so.

I just had the battery in my 2013 GS350 replaced today at my Lexus dealer. $120 for the battery and $40 to install it and check the electrical charging system. The battery Lexus uses is an Interstate (GR24) with a Lexus sticker on it. The invoice says it is an "INTERST G24". It has a 575 CCA rating and an 84 month warranty. First 2 years are cost-free exchange. Beyond 2 years it is pro-rated. Earlier this morning I went to Autozone to have one of their Duralast batteries installed. It was $120 with free installation but they wouldn't install it in a GS350 because the battery is located by the firewall in an "inconvenient location". So I drove to my Lexus dealer and bought the Interstate for the same price plus installation. I'm glad I wound up getting the Lexus OEM battery. Keeps it stock.
