Default Messaging options missing?

The owners manual for my '13 GS explains test messaging options in Setup/Phone/Message Settings. I do not have the Message Settings option shown in the manual. There is Phone Sound Settings, Phonebook Settings, and Phone Display Settings, but not the Message Settings.

I am using an iPhone 6 and messaging works from that phone in my other vehicles. Anyone know why I am missing that option?

Thanks!

Edit: Just figured out it was a setting on the phone that has to set for each vehicle connected (bluetooth/show notifications). Thanks.

So what all did you do to enable this? I changed the bluetooth settings on my phone, but I still don't get notifications.

Once you enable the notifications on your phone, disconnect the phone from the car and then re-pair it. Once I did that the options show on the car screen.

OK.

I removed and recreated the pairing, and confirmed that notifications ere enabled on the phone. My iPhone connects to the car and has no issues associated with making and receiving phone calls, but when a text message is received, the car’s system does nothing. I hear the alert from the phone, but nothing on the screen in the car. The phone is still connected, but the message log is empty.

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?

Did you check on the bluetooth / car / (i) screen where you enabled 'Show Notifications', under there there are 'Groups' - make sure all those are checked, if not i think it will ignore the notifications (if no groups are selected). See if that works.
