Hey guys,
just signed up b/c I am considering a 2013 (maybe 2014) GS 350.
Any advice on anything to look for?

I could save a decent amount if I can find one w closer to 70K miles, vs 30-40K

Every Lexus I've ever known about has always been pretty reliable, so I'm more concerned w age and condition than mileage.

Any issues anyone has seen w higher mileage GS 350?
Anything to expect at certain intervals maintenance-wise?

Advice on what to look for -- look for what you want in trim, color, additional options etc. and be a little flexible in other areas since you're a bit limited in availability for the used market.

If you peruse the forums, you'll probably notice that there are a few issues with the cars, but overall they've been quite good.

Maintenance intervals are available online via Lexus' driver's site. In short, 5k + n*10k are minor, and 10k + n*10k are more significant (like oil) and the 30k + N*30k also replace brake fluid.

Saw one at 100k miles sold for 17k body looked very solid no check engine light etc. Question is that if the car was properly maintained if not you can mess it up in 20k miles also. Before buying any car make sure to check the service history on it.

I just bought a GS with 45k on it. While that isn't exactly high, it's still a lot for me since I usually buy under 20k. Regardless I haven't had any issues at all with the car. My other two non-Lexus cars have given me more issues in a month than my Lexus cars have ever given. Point is, the Lexus GS is solid and at any level you shouldn't have any issues.

Like everyone has mentioned, service history is important. I would also try targeting large cities where there are more GSs for sale. Competition drives down prices and you will have more variety to choose from.

Be careful where you buy it, too. As someone who works at a dealership said, they tend to keep any car coming in on trade worth certifying. If the car has issues, they let it go to auction. I've been looking at cars for a few weeks, and there are plenty of cars for sale that say "clean Carfax!" or "no accidents!", but then you check the Carfax and there is an accident reported.

I found that the best place to check reviews is Yelp, especially the non-approved or hidden reviews. There's a big seller in Dallas that has a really good ebay rating, but they get trashed on Yelp. A lot of people bought cars there and found frame damage and other issues later on. I found a local seller (who seems to have closed down now) who had a nice showroom and sold a lot of $50k+ cars, but scammed people left and right. They even coated cars in some sort of colored wax to hide scratches and paint problems, which showed up the first time the car got washed. One guy noticed that a car he was looking at had four different tires on it, all of them crappy cheap brands.

The best thing you can do is have a PPI done on any car you're really serious about buying. It's worth paying a little for a good inspection.

You're also far enough south that you'll see a lot more RWD cars for sale, and they tend to be a bit cheaper, from what I've seen.
