Default California deals on GS's???

Can't remember if I've asked this before on here. Why are people on here getting $10k plus off sticker on GS's in California and deals like this are mostly unheard of in the rest of the country? Living in central Illinois I'll travel most anywhere when the time comes to buy. I probably won't travel to Ca. due to cost of travel out and driving back but, I hope to get a decent deal in the south since I'll only purchase a RWD. I guess I'll find out when the time comes when I start making online offers to dealers.

Dealers are more willing to discount in SoCal because the competition between dealers is so fierce. There are almost 10 dealers within a 50 mile radius of me. They know that if they don't come down, another dealer can undercut them; so they are willing to cut their profits a bit to sell more cars which provides the dealers with other extra bonuses.

I hear Texas and Florida get pretty good deals too.

Agree with dchar. There is a high concentration of dealers and a much larger inventory of cars in Southern California. Makes the market lean more to a customer advantage than other areas of the country.

The other thing is the quality of used cars seem to be really good since SoCal has mild weather all year round and 'salting streets' does not happen (except in the mountains) so less chance of rust and corrosion on the vehicles.

I believe it's the competition. There are multiple dealers within close range of each other. I just bought a new 16' GS f sport and there were only 3 left in the color combo I was looking for. Since the 17s were out and they had the better lease and finance deals on them it was harder to move the 16. I had those three dealers fight it out until I reached the lowest number. I got the car for 14k off MSRP in NorCal. I financed through my credit union at 1.49% anyway, the best from Lexus on a 16 was 2.9%

Wow, 14k off sticker would make it worth the trip from anywhere in the country! I wonder if anyone here has bought one in the southeast for that kind of deal? Discounts like that are unheard of in my neck of the woods.
