Anyone think the GS 350 F Sports Acceleration is really slow?

It's all relative to the type of car/class you're looking into.
2 door sports cars are fun. I drove many extensively while growing up (i.e. Eclipse, Miata, S2K, etc) and even tracked a few.
As I grew older, I started to develop a taste more for luxury, reliability, and usability/practicality (especially for those who ever want to carry more than 2 people, have a family, have a decent sized trunk, etc).
Bottom line, you can't compare the Z4 to the GS. They are completely different cars designed for completely different audiences/uses. To address whoever wrote your quote, if you compare the GS to the G35 (now the G37), Lexus is way ahead of the Infiniti in so many different ways. Yes, it may not be the fastest car off the line (even within its price range & 4-door luxury sedan segment), but that's not what most people here will rank #1 on their list of priorities when they were shopping for a luxury-sedan.
All the best,

Well, no, the car isn’t ”really slow.”Any car with 311hp is not slow.Is the car a drag racer, no!As others have pointed out it is a little slow on ramping up off the line until its power band kicks in; but then pulls really hard. One other anomaly I have noticed that I can’t explain is that it seems very difficult to come off the brake pedal and hit the gas very quickly to launch fast.To launch reasonably fast, I would suggest you brake with the left foot and keep the right foot on the gas pedal.I too have an Infiniti G35 coupe (as another poster mentioned) that has reasonably close HP and torque to the GS. However the G35 has lightning fast throttle response (and steering & brake reaction). So it feels much faster than the GS.However that faster “seat of the pants” feel doesn’t necessarily equate to a faster car. From reviews/tests I have read the two cars are about the same.As a matter of fact, I just read a review of the 2016 GS350 F Sport and in their testing it ran 0-60 in 5.5 sec and the quarter mile in 14.0.That’s the fastest test I’ve seen for the GS. Not too long ago only V8’s could achieve those numbers.I’ve owned Porsche 911, V8 Mustangs, Mercedes E350, BMW 540, Nissan Z, & Infiniti G35 coupe etc and I have to say in my opinion the GS350 is a very well executed balance of sportiness, power, handling, and luxury. Now, are there other $60K sticker price sports sedans that are more high performance and faster?…YES! But you can buy or lease the Lexus at a much bigger discount, so I think the market somewhat adjusts for these factors. For example, I crossed shopped my 2016 GS350 F Sport with the Cadillac CTS V- Sport (420 hp); both sticker at $60K; however my Lexus lease is almost half the monthly payment of the CTS.

LOL. I am laughing on the inside to all you car enthusiast! No offense, I hope! But I am still driving a Honda civic 4 door EX model and compared to my GS, I have NO complaints at all! LOL. I accelerate on my civic and I can feel the strain it has, but when I throttle my GS, no complaints at all! :P Although, I aint no racer or modify my car to one. I just am grateful to own such a nice luxury car! Thanks for letting me take a part of this great forum

Also when I am turning sharp corners, I seem to be leaning towards the door a lot. So much body roll. Any one else experience this?
You guys think it's those crappy bridgestone tires?

Perhaps this is a good time to ask this question.
I've always wondered why so many people on here constantly refer to how much faster the 535 is than the GS350. It wouldn't be that surprising, given that BMWs seem to perform very well in 0-60 tests and it is widely believed that they underrate their horsepower and torque ratings. Yet every time I read a review or look up 0-60 times, the stock 535 is about the same as the GS350.
For example, Motor Trend tested a 2012 RWD automatic 535i at 5.5 seconds. They later tested a 2014 535d, again at 5.5 seconds.
Over at Car and Driver, they tested two 2014s. They got 5.6 seconds out of a RWD 535d, and 5.3 seconds out of a 535i X drive.
For the GS350, Motor Trend tested two 2013s, both RWD. They got 5.4 out of one, and 5.5 out of the other.
Car and Driver tested two 2013 GS350s, one RWD and one AWD, as well as a 2016 RWD. For the 13s, they got 5.5 out of the RWD and 5.6 out of the AWD. For the 16 with the 8 speed, they got 5.8 seconds.
Granted there is more to it than just 0-60 times, but I am just not seeing how the 535 is so much more fleet than the GS. The fantastic torque delivery of the 535 may make it feel like it, but the number show them to be quite competitive.
For a bit more, these two magazines have achieved quarter mile times from 14.0 to 14.3 on the GS, and 14.0 to 14.3 in the 535.
Thoughts? Am I missing something obvious?

At least in the Car and Driver and Motor Trend testing, even the exit speeds are similar. The 535 exiting at 97-100 mph and the GS at 99-102 mph.

The torque of 535i is 295 ft-lb, 535d 413 ft-lb vs gs350 280ft-lb. So you would feel that the car is fast. In reality, it just pushes you against the seat and burn some rubber. Even an audi A3d will FEEL faster.
I find gs350 is more comfortable and better in traffic. If op want a car that feel fast get infiniti, bmw and audi. I prefer the comfortable of lexus and mb especially sitting on the traffic, when i need to push the car I know my gs350 wont be left behind☝️️.

A 2004 bmw z4
Here is an opinion from another owner from a different forum. I guess I am not alone. Oh well.
"GS 350's 1st gear sucks. There, I said it. It's lazy, long, and dog slow. I will never, ever burn anyone off a red light. At the same time, I doubt I'll ever spin the tires in the rain at a red light which happened nearly every time in the old Infiniti G35, the TCS light happily reminding me 1st gear was high strung. Once you get past first gear, the car positively hauls ***, but the 1 or 2 seconds you're stuck in it, it feels like you're stuck in the mud. This leads you to believe the car is intentionally electronically hampered and creates doubt about what the 306 horses under the hood are capable of. On the bright side, knowing it acts this way, I am much less tempted to pull some Friday night stoplight pedal stomping crap like I used to (for fun of course). There's no point. With a 5.7s 0-60, I'm not going to impress anyone in the same price range anyway, so there's really no reason to smash the gas on green. Still, I miss the immediacy and rottweiler-on-a-short-leash 5 speed from the G35, even if it snapped your neck doing the 1-2 shift in the winter."

I have seen one instance where it is always slow. When I pause few seconds for a merge the torque dies down and as I hit the gas it pauses like "stuck in mud" as you quoted. Otherwise it's great. I would say no body roll or very very less that's not noticeable when I exit or merge. I can see my wife and kids sitting relaxed and did not feel the car is turning.

well i haven't but you saying that the GS350 is slow is completely wrong. Just cause the torque in the 535 kicks in faster doesn't mean that its a faster car lol. get your facts right first

I had a 2008 535i before I traded it for my GS. It did feel fairly similar in acceleration, in stock form. I had the car a few week before putting a tune in it. It was a totally different car. It would blow away the 4GS. It also had the active Sport suspension, which nearly eliminated body roll. I have had my GS for about a year and a half, and I'm just now getting used to the "slower" GS. I miss the performance of the BMW (tuned), but don't miss the constant fuel delivery problems. I had it go into limp mode 7 times in a trip across town! One of those times was pulling into heavy traffic (with my family in the car). I took it to the dealer to have it "fixed" for the last time, then traded it in 3 weeks later. The next owner didn't keep it 6 months. (...RANT OFF...)
I also notice how well this car performs at higher revs. Off the line it feels slow, but once rolling, and kept in the higher rev range, it performs very well for the size car it is. HOW you drive it will make a difference in how you perceive performance. The GS has a great transmission (unlike the e60 BMW). In sport+ mode it holds the gears to get the most out of the powerband.
In a nutshell, I find the power acceptable, but wish there were tuning options available. The longer you own it, the more you will appreciate it.
PS, chuck the tires! They do hurt the handling and enjoyment of the car
