im having my windshield replaced for the 2nd time in less than 2 years.
All the other cars/SUVs that we had never had such a brittle windshield.
Unfortunately, i don't want to use my insurance since i have a $500 deductible and it's not worth the increase in rates
I have tried using safelite as well as lexus service center, and both occasions cost close to $1,500
something to do with an original OEM glass and " calibration" that cost $300

Better than me. Needed to replace 2 windshields in 6 months haha. I stopped getting the OEM windshield after the first one.
I got my replacement for $280 without insurance though. $1,500 seems very extreme.

If you have comprehensive in the state of Kentucky, there is no deductible for glass breakage. I thought that was pretty universal. I know my daughter got a replacement windshield in Florida for no deductible. Perhaps you need to check with another insurance company once this is sorted.

Don’t worry about rate increases. Windshield is covered under your Comprehensive deductible which is not a chargeable loss.
As to whether you need to pay your deductible, that will all depend on your specific insurance policy.
Finally got my rear calipers painted but will also soon be adding caliper covers to finish it off. Definitely glad I got around to doing it though, definitively rounds out the look.
