What did you do to your GS today?

I bought a K&N typhoon off of DallasDave, specifically to ditch the sound generator. No ill effects at all. Sounds a whole lot better in my opinion as it doesn't sound artificial when I accelerate. As far as taking it off the oem intake, I have no idea, but you will probably want to plug it somehow instead of leaving an open hole.

Should be no issues to take off the sound generator. It's just a baffle that sits off the intake with a sole purpose of making noise. Lexus uses this same engine on the RX350 (and elsewhere) with and without the sound generator. On the RX350 it's added on with the F Sport package.

Does anyone know if the intake is able to draw in hotter air from the engine bay through the sound generator opening? Can’t help but wonder if less hot air gets sucked in when the sound generator hole is capped off

Pause: Just ran into the garage and blew into one end... it is a sealed unit. Reaching in you can feel the diaphragm, and where it is sealed to the sides. It's all about sound waves, not air movement (I guess).

Haha yeah, I drove about 5k miles or so before I had to replace them. Prob could've lasted another oil change, but they were getting noisier by the day even tho I don't drive the car everyday

I took the intake sound generator off last night. I'll spend a few days evaluating as all I've driven since is my 6 mile drive into work this morning.
My quick impression is that it's not as noticeable a difference as I had expected, and I don't notice any changes with respect to vibration, but I think it's good. Another few days and I'll have more of an opinion on it.

Yes, I used this:
Oops. You should definitely try it out. It's a super quick & easy swap and is pretty low risk @ ~$10. I used the RX part to cap it off https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...893-0p150.html

I just need more seat time and places where I can open it up a bit more, reaching those upper RPMs.

Yeah, I did that and it was noticeable, but I didn't feel that it gave me a good basis for comparison. I want to spend some time with it in real world conditions to gauge the impact when you also factor in normal driving, road/tire noise, wind noise, etc.

Hit it with some 303 inside and under the hood. Cleaned the windshield and interior glass surfaces, been about 6 months so it's been overdue. Used a diluted IPA solution to remove the oils and film, and Invisible Glass to shine. First time trying the IPA and Invisible Glass... fingers are crossed.
