Oh I'm going to check bumper to bumper on this one but it's just too damn hot in the garage right now.

They were saying that they were close to finding the noise and I'm like. No.. ur close to giving me a heart attack!!

Drove the family to the splash pad. Got a couple of odd looks getting out of it (I look like a typical southerner/redneck... same looks I got when I drove my Porsche before).

Took it to a diner, had some great tenderloin and fried okra, then took a couple logs while the wife crawled up the A pillar and the child went "Weee!" Around curves on back roads.

Found a tear on the rear wheel well liner on the replaced shock side due to improper installation. Yup, my GS has been molested. Damn! Need to spend more money and another project. Anybody knows the part number for the Left, Rear wheel well liner thing?

Is this the correct one?

Make the dealer fix it. Don’t let them off the hook for their mistakes.

How big is the 'tear'? Is it really worth the time and effort to replace the wheel well? Could it have happened when you ran over that wood on I-5 or wherever it happened?

About 3 inches, right where the shock is at and no, I didn't even touch the wood on I-15. This is from the tech that didn't know what he was doing or simply just careless for sure.

I also saw the clips and screws weren't put back properly, which is typical and same as body shops. They get paid to move cars out of the service bay as fast as they can and they're not car guys like us! Car guys wouldn't let stuff like this slip.

It's only a 5 minute job once I get the rear wheel off and the parts are not that expensive anyway, so I'll have to just eat this one and get some workout done.

Taking my cars to the dealer are over unless I have no other choice. I live 2 hours away from U- Tuber The Car Care Nut who opened his own shop in the Chicago land area. He's a certified Toyota tech who stresses the importance of being careful with a clients car. I still haven't done the fuel pump recall on my 18 and will purchase a new one for $160 and have him install it. I will report back after I go to his shop.

@charley95 - Why wouldn't you have your local Lexus dealer replace the fuel pump at no-charge under warranty? You'd save $160 parts cost plus whatever the Indy tech will charge you...and the Lexus dealer is probably not 2 hours away?

I'm particular about the cosmetic condition of my car and my old trustworthy tech left the dealer that I could trust. He was my old neighbor and knew how particular I am. Had bad dealership experience on last visit and no longer trust them with my equipment. The cost doesn't concern me at all for peace of mind.

Yeah, I would probably do the same if I know someone like that, just look at what happened to my GS. I'm basically redoing their work here. I used to have a mechanic friend with his own shop and never had any problems with stuff not done properly but then he retired and sold the business.

Anyway, I did some research on the tech that did my car and he's listed as a senior tech but this guy doesn't even know how to reinstall a splash shield properly. I guess Lexus hires just about anybody these days.

Still have to heat gun my back seat cause it came back with wrinkles on the leather.

Go to a different dealer. I had an airbag recall done after purchasing my car used, recall was almost 3 years old at the time. No issues.

Lexus of Palm Beach. Bought my GS there since they matched JM Lexus' pricing. Got my complimentary and warranty services there as well. How you liking their service?
