Default Painted Calipers Warranty

Does painting your brake calipers void any type of warranty? As I was researching info on how to do it, a few people mentioned that it voids the warranty. For obvious reasons I don't want to void the warranty.

Thoughts?

I've taken my car into Lexus for warranty work and they haven't said anything about my DIY painted calipers. The warranty work wasn't brake related but I don't see how painting calipers can void a warranty.

As long as your warranty work isn't related to brakes, you shouldn't have an issue.

I had my calipers painted by a local wheel and tire shop and never thought about the warranty ramifications - i think maybe if you have a caliper related warranty issue and the service advisers want to claim that the problem is due to paint on the calipers then you'll have a headache...

Although it might be stretch - i'm wondering under what circumstances might the painted calipers cause a problem...? Heat retention?

I would hold off painting the calipers on my FSports since I do hear minor clinking sounds and there's an recall out there for rotor replacement.

I cannot imagine that anyone would even attempt to refuse a warranty repair due to paint on the calipers. Perhaps if the calipers were removed, disassembled and refitted to the car....MAYBE. But taking off a wheel, masking the rotor & putting a little paint on the caliper, no way.

Here is the response I got from the Lexus Dealership.

"I was able to speak with the manager and any modifications would void that part warranty coverage. Lexus requires all parts to be returned under warranty, so I would not recommend it."

Is "painting" considered modification????
