MY '13 GS head unit volume button stuck

Yesterday - I had the same problem, but I did not manage to pull the ****. Neither a string, nor a sticky tape did work.
At the end I designed a small plastic part which was easy to print
https://www.printables.com/de/model/...me-****-puller
so it was very easy to repair this little issue.
Thank you very much for leading me in the right direction.

Is it the physical **** itself that just goes all the way in or is it the potentiometer in the radio that falls in?
If it’s only the **** it should be easy to do preventative things to avoid it happening…

yes
you are right, a small ring, hidden behind the knobb to prevent to push it all in should do the job.

I just want to pass along my thanks to you and I'm happy you're not trying to rip off people by sharing a small item that will help fix a known issue.
I agree that if you could put a small ring behind the button, it would help alleviate the problem.

Of course and certainly was not being serious.

Just had this issue on a GX460. Volume button and rotary switch behind it look similar to the photos shared here. These posts steered me in the right direction that it was something simple and not an entire dead stereo that is $1000 on the used market.
So the the issue is rather simple – a small plastic stop in the back of the switch that breaks off when pushing. So then it slides too far on to the dial and jams against the housing behind it. You can see the travel stops in the photo of the back side of the **** below.
I was able to pull it off with my fingers (barely) and then swapped the volume and tune *****. The tune **** does not have a "press" function and the **** fit on that dial slightly tighter.
Other ideas on how to fix:
Fill switch cavity with hot glue up to the broken plastic stop so it can't slide on too far.
Replace the ****. For 2010-2014 Lexus GX460 the PN is 86127-60040. I do not know the PN for a GS.
