Default Why use Sport S?

For those with Sport S and Sport S+, I can't think of a reason to ever use Sport S.
  • NORMAL - I get it, the optimal ride, performance, and fuel economy as determined by the Lexus engineers.
  • ECO - Calmer ride and best fuel economy.
  • SPORT S+ - Exciting drive, top performance.
So why use Sport S? Why opt for greater engine performance and skip the tighter steering and suspension. What am I missing? Is there a good reason to choose Sport S instead of Sport S+?

Sometimes I'll use Sport S on a bumpy road where I find the tightened up Sport S+ suspension setting to be too stiff.

I wish there was just a "+" mode. I hate the goofy downshifting in S or S+ mode.

Sometimes I put my car in Sport S if I have passengers, but if the car is really weighed down with passengers and luggage it's in Sport S+. Most of the time it's Sport S+.

It's all driver preference. I prefer the softer ride in S mode when I'm commuting. But S+ when I take it out for some fun.

One thing I can't stand is Eco mode. Yeah it might be better on gas... but gas is cheap and life is short haha

I prefer S over S+. I don't particularly care for the harsher ride in S+ and I have really bad roads commuting to and from work. So it's normally Normal or S modes for me. Honestly the only reason I ride in S+ is because it's a mode I don't normally use.

Sport S 80% of the time here. The roads in some areas where I live are crap. Also, the steering at highway speeds is a little twitchy in S+.

I normally use S+ except when I am in a 5 mile circle to my home. If I am outside that I'm on an highway.
My city roads are just to rough for the stiff suspension when in the + mode.
I agree with fuddyduddy and wish we had another setting that was maybe S+ without the transmission shifting as sometime it holds on to a gear and higher RPM's when I would of liked it to shift up.
It occurs once or twice a week. Maybe I could hit the upshift paddle to make me happy.
Also I am coming from a BMW 650i and that car was pretty much perfect in every way except the repair cost.

On the '16's and '17's you have a "Customize" option for the Modes; so you can choose what you want!

I like to use "Sport S" in everyday driving, where I don't really want the tighter suspension or a stiffer steering wheel, but prefer the gear ratio of the sport mode vs normal. When I know I don't have traffic and can do some aggressive driving, I move into "Sport +" mode.

I use Sport S if I want aggressive shifting and throttle mapping but the road is too rough to stiffen the suspension with Sport S+, which is rare. Most of the time, I switch to Sport S+ as soon as I start the car.

I use Sport S during rush hour for the quicker throttle response to help prevent drivers from cutting me off in traffic. Don't use Sport + because of the upshift delay.
