Navigation software update: is there a cheaper alternative?

I'm not sure the original question was answered. Are there any other options instead of taking it to the dealer for 2013 models? I'm about to purchase a pre-owened and would be good to know if there's options.

If you are buying the car from a Lexus dealer you could always negotiate that the map be updated before closing the deal.
Or, if cost is a consideration, I believe Lexus dealers usually offer the previous year's map at a reduced charge for a period of time, or until they sell out - for maybe $99 plus one hour of labor. That would provide you with a 2015 map, which would be three years newer than the 2012 map that was originally installed in 2013 models.
