I tried Geico for 3-4 years. They were competitive when I first went with them for a couple of years or so, then they started increasing their rates by large percentages...for no reason on my part. I finally had had enough and compared my polices with other insurance companies, which I easily found to have lower premiums for the same coverage. I even tried to stay with Geico, but they weren't willing to negotiate. I ended up going with State Farm and I have a local agent that really cares about keeping me as a satisfied customer. I have multiple vehicles, two homes, vacation rental property, a business building, unimproved land, umbrella policy, etc. I know that if something happens my agent will do all he can to make me happy...unlike Gieco. I'm not sure why I ever went with Geico in the first place. What really made me mad about Gieco is - just a couple weeks after I dropped them they offered to cut my auto insurance in half (50%) to get me back. I still get mail from them wanting me to come back. I really find it hard to believe that a Berkshire Hathaway owned company would promote their business in such a reprehensible way.

We were hit by someone with Geico. They were easy to work with but kept trying to fix our RX with refurbished and non OEM parts.

We we now have Farmers and they've been good so far. We got hit again and Farmers is paying for all new OEM parts to fix our Highlander, no issues.

We have been insured with USAA for forty plus years. We have a 2012 RX and a 2013 GS F-Sport. Our insurance premiums were $1200 a year in 2012. They are now $1300 per year.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think some of you missed the part where I said I already got other quotes and they were all about the same (including trying to bundle with homeowners). What I have concluded is that I apparently seemed to have had a great deal previously and now it has moved up to current market value.

My other question also was had others been told the GS statistically is now considered expensive to repair, etc. and apparently others have heard that too!

Of course we all know the insurance companies will use any and all means to jack up your rates.

Wait 'till you hear the one about raising your rates because you have been licensed for too many years!!

I'm located in LA so even though we apparently get the best purchase/lease prices on the GS, it is offset by higher taxes and insurance premiums!!.

I have liberty mutual and my rates went up as well, they stated parts for my car have gone up! I thought they go down as the car gets older.

I was with GEICO for years and had everything with them. I also had two or three claims with them and the were excellent but when renewal rolled around this February, I went to a local insurance agent and had her shop around for me. I ended up moving everything to Safeco which is a Liberty Mutual company I think and I'm saving $500-600. This includes auto, home, umbrella, etc. and we both have excellent driving records and credit. Pays to make the time to shop around even though it's a pain.

This happened to my pops...For no reason his rates went up and when he asked why, they said it was because of his age. I understand he is in his 50s and maybe they have stats that show a 50+ year old driver is more "risky" (vision, reflexes), but he's had a super clean record for so many years...he has a 3GS. He's fine with the increase since it was offset by him taking a defensive driving course.

My last car was a 2008 BMW M3 worth about $26K when I sold it in December 2016. I sold the BMW and bought a new 2016 GS350 F Sport. I called my insurance company to add the Lexus to my policy and remove the BMW. I got a refund of $37. It was interesting that it costs less to insure a new Lexus GS vs a 9 year old BMW M3.

Oddly enough my insurance premiums are higher for my Highlander than they are for my GS.

My father in law works in the insurance industry and he told me nationally, car insurance went up an average of 11 percent (doesn't matter what company). Mine went up 14% this year because of the city I live in.

My car insurance actually went down $1 this year with no changes to the policy.

Swap insurance companies. I'm glad we have a good insurance company that doesn't play these games.
