I have a 2014 F-Sport RWD. Its time to replace the sluggish OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx after 25k miles. My choice was Michelin Pilot Super Sport (MP SS) . Now the Pilot Sport 4S is the latest update to the legendary MP SS and they have it on tire rack.

But for the OEM 235/40R19 + 265/35R19 size, the rear tires are labeled 'low rolling resistance'. The front ones are not. For a one-up 245/40R19 + 275/35R19 size, the front tires are 'low rolling resistance'. So I asked Michelin and they say its not advisable to combine standard and 'low rolling resistance'. They should be all one or the other.

I asked Tire Rack and they say its ok to mix/match. My gut feeling is that the one-up 245/40R19 + 275/35R19 is a better choice since - the non-driving wheels are 'low rolling resistance'.

Any members have experience with this. I want to get the MP S4S since it improves almost on almost every parameter from MPSS and is quieter/smoother too. Price is close too ;-) http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...-sport-4s.html

My 245/275 combo comes in tomorrow and I'm ashamed to say that I didn't catch this discrepancy but verified the designation is as you say. After i get a couple hundred miles in them I'll let you know if they feel strange.

 

Ok, the descriptions have changed on Tire Rack to indicate both combos as 'low rolling resistance' tires. But on Michelin's own site, the 4s does not come up as recommended option for GS350. Interesting.

 

Both of them should be Low Rolling Resistance.

The stock 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 sizing PS4S has them as well.

Just got the new PS 4s for my 2014 lexus gs 350 f sport and they are beyond unreal...had the bridgestone potenza's which lasted 25k, but i'm so damn happy with these!

 

I would think the low rolling resistance tire tread will not be as "sticky" as the standard compound. Similar handling characteristic's as installing different level performance tires on front & rear axles.

 

The new PS 4s corner like a Porsche and quieter than any tire I've ever owned. They added 10% carbon fiber to tire which make them lighter too.

 

hows it compare with the pilot super sport mines almost out and planning to change them out by the end of summer its either the pss or the pilot sport 4s ?

 

I've owned both the PSS and now the PS4s...and the PS4s are by far an amazing improvement...especially with the way the tires look...the PSS had a more rounder look that created the illusion of the wheels looking smaller. Michelin has fixed that and made it look better than expected.

 

My RWD F-Sport has stock Michelins in the front and 275-35-ZR19 s in the rear and it runs great. I'm thinking of going up one size in the front.
