RX7!!! Back in the day I had a 1983 street ported 13B with a Weber 44 down draft carb and Racing Beat headers and clutch (not the three puck). Then I had a stock super clean 1985 GSL-SE fully loaded. Such super fun cars. I miss driving it and tweaking it. Rarely see them on the road anymore..... Wish I kept mine...

I love the feedback and all valid points! A small part of me is in the short-term group. Like some people have already stated so many cars to choose from. But what brings me back to my senses is if I go down that route (money wise)where does it end?

Would like to think long term. I'm financed my CPO 2014 for 60 months back in November 2016, but my interest rate is at 0.9%, so I'm in no rush to pay it off.
I did purchase the extended L/Certified warranty, so I have valid coverage until the end of Dec. 2023 (expires sometime after Christmas) with unlimited miles. In a perfect (financial) world, I'd keep it until maybe 2025 or so because my car should be in good mechanical shape going into 2024. However, something tells me that I'll end up gifting this car to my parents or simply trading up for a newer car earlier than that. We'll see what happens though.

I own the hybrid, so for me - it's definitely a long term "investment." Depreciation & payback of gas savings. My last car, I owned for 8+ year. I plan to do the same with my 2013 GS450h. It's already been 2+ years since I bought mine slightly used.
If I decide to upgrade to an all electric vehicle down the road (batteries become more efficient & electric charging expands rapidly), I will ultimately give my vehicle to my wife, which will be a major upgrade for her.
Very happy with my vehicle thus far! No problems whatsoever.

We are keep it long term. We're hoping for 250k miles with minimal work being needed. This is a our first Lexus and i'm hoping to test out the Lexus reliability I keep hearing about. So far we have been really happy with the car and it has needed nothing.

That's my strategy also to justify buying new. I also watch the miles and try to sell before hitting 100K, this usually means 8-9 years. Bought my 2015 GS350 a year & a half ago because I wanted to get a new car I could still work on myself, before technology gets so complicated I have to take it to the dealer. I plan to keep this car much longer as I am planning for retirement A.S.A.P

I bought my GS350 five years ago, so I suppose it qualities as a long term purchase. I had my last Lexus, a SC400, for 19 years, so I may do something comparable with this one. However, a Porsche 911 looks so alluring !

love everything about the gs350 sport except the underpowered engine..
waiting for prices to drop on the gs f in the 45-50 range or if i cannot last that long looking at 2013/14 m5 i can dream can't I?

Maintaining a Lexus is reasonable, maintaining a Porsche is pricey, maintaining a BMW is ridiculous.

I've been averaging about 35k to 50k miles per year the last few years!! But I do have that L/Certified extended warranty - unlimited miles until 12/2024, so I'll keep you guys posted on how much Lexus actually covers :P Driving in many downtown cities with crappy roads (DC/Arlington VA, NYC, Toronto) somewhat frequently, I'm sure I'll have suspension parts going bad sooner rather than later. (My ILX, purchased new, needed new shocks at around 40k miles, my TL, purchased used @86k miles and was highway driven in the suburbs before me, needed new shocks around 110k mile, and needed 3 new CV axles by 135k) - All replacements were done @ Acura dealership w/ OEM parts
