Long-Haul or Short Term?

I have had a string of short term cars (leases) and finally bought a several years ago. The BMW 535i was fun to drive, but got sick of fuel issues/limp mode. Even though it was paid off I had to get rid of it. I went Lexus since my twin daughters will be going to college in 2 years. I don't want a car payment with all the other expenses. I would have liked an Audi, but I'm afraid of German cars in the long run.
I see 8+ years in my future...
I have come to realize the newest isn't necessary. No matter what the car is, it will become "just another car" in time....

I'm a hybrid. I'm for the long haul for my wife's cars and short term for mine. We plan to keep my wife's '14 LX 570 for at least 8 more years. I'm currently leasing at IS 250 F Sport but am looking at getting a cpo '16 GS F Sport or GS-F around Christmas of this year.

Once I get mine it would be ling term. Had my 03 Camry for 13 years with no issues. But I love the idea of changing it up a bit, perhaps a fun car in the side.

This is so true of German cars in general. I was the proud owner of an E46 330ci for many years and when she went out of warranty, the maintenance cost went through the roof. I went Lexus after that and have not looked back since.
