Not quite. At low speeds it’s gone but at highway speeds, it’s there some of the time. At least we now know it’s the instrument cluster. I have service coming up this month so I’ll have them look at it again. I will say it’s at least tolerable now.

Removed instrument cluster and drove car.....tick went away. While I was driving car, tech was working on gauge cluster and has hopefully figured out the root of the noise. They are performing 15k service now and reinstalling instrument cluster.

will now after while if I’m tick free.

Hopefully the annoying tick will be gone. Be glad you don't live in Illinois with the worst roads in the country that will jar something loose. Starting to notice more rattles in my 14 RX just because of how bad our roads are.

So far so good. Since I left the dealership, I have ridden on the highway I travel daily and no noise. Hopefully nothing gets knocked loose and this is finally fixed.

Hope it is finally fixed for you! Do you know specifically what the technician did this time to remedy the noise?

BC I don’t. But whatever it was, it was with the gauge cluster while it was out of the car and I was driving it without the cluster. He had done work a few weeks ago that silenced the noise at lower speeds so he had a good idea of what to look for/at presumably. I’ve driven it more this afternoon and no noise!

Wonderful! Hope it remains quiet as a Christmas mouse...

Well, my noise has returned. I think I'm going to see what CarMax will offer me for it. It's simply not a joy to drive anymore. There has been a lot of aggravation for me with regard to this noise. I think I'm driving at $60k rattle can and have decided I've had enough. I wish I still have my LS 430.

Sorry to hear about your displeasure. Don't ya think you could do better selling it outright? I'm sure CarMax would give ya low wholesale for the car. Would ya trade maybe for a different Lexus?

I think I'm ready to drive my '88 Fleetwood for a few months right now. It has less rattles than the Lexus and has almost 190k miles on it. CarMax would just be out of convenience so I don't have to deal with it.

I know that you've been to the dealer several times on this issue. Have you thought about getting Lexus corporate involved? Maybe a new partial dash assembly replacement since your still under warranty?! Maybe discuss with the service mgr. and see what possible options you could take. A GS is too nice of a car to give up on since it appears you take very good care of yours judging from pics. you've posted here. I can relate to the extreme frustration with other cars I've owned. I just can't think of anything else I'd rather have more than my 18 GS with 2k on it. So far, I've just had a couple very minor issues that were easily corrected. I'm very pleased so far with my local dealer taking care of things even though I didn't buy my RX or GS from them. Keep us updated.

Guess I'm venting more than anything to fellow enthusiasts. I do plan to take it back to the dealer this week. We had discussed the instrument cluster and I think it's now time to get a new one. The "fixes" on it up to now just didn't cure the problem. I am optimistic that Flow will take care of it as they've been very good about it thus far and I've used them for the other Lexus' I've owned.

Yes and no. The tick from the gauge cluster was resolved but there is still an annoying rattle on the driver side that comes and goes and occasionally the passenger side, too. I think I'm overly critical now given the fact I had the tick in the gauge cluster. I will probably keep the car until December then look at trading. I simply don't enjoy driving it that much any more because I'm always listening for a rattle.
